About Derek

Derek Smith was promoted in 2023 to Senior IT Security & Compliance Specialist. He has more than 15 years of Information Technology experience in the civilian and defense industries. Derek graduated from West Virginia Tech with a Bachelor of Science degree in Management Information Systems. In addition, Derek is a Navy veteran that served for over four years. He served at the National Security Agency in Fort Meade, MD as a Network Specialist and served onboard the USS Bataan LHD5 as a Radio Technician. Post military, Derek went on working as a defense contractor at Fort Gordon, GA and Fort Hood, TX.

In his free time, Derek likes to lift weights, work on house improvements, cook, and garden.
